This inaugural episode originally performed on 24/04/2020 features Philippe Battikha exploring ASMR through his trumpet and other sound objects. Tim Shaw takes us on a glitched-out streaming sound walk through the streets of Lausanne, Switzerland on lockdown. Special guest Esther Bourdages performs a turntablist music concrete set mixed with some field recordings by the host and organizer Martín Rodríguez
Philippe Battikha (US)
Philippe Battikha is a Canadian composer, musician, and sound artist who works and lives in Montreal. He creates installations, sculptures and sonic environments using familiar and everyday sounds. He showcases our close and constant relationship with sound and its affect on our individual and collective experiences. He is co-founder of the Montreal artist space L’Envers, as well as the experimental music label Samizdat Records.
Tim shaw (UK)
Tim Shaw is an artist working with sound, light and communication media. Presenting work through musical performances, installations and sound walks Tim is interested in how listening environments can be constructed or explored using a diverse range of techniques and technologies. He works with field recordings, electronics, video, modular synthesis, sound objects, self-made hardware and DIY software.
Esther Bourdages (CA)
Esther Bourdages works in the visual arts and technology art field. Under Esther B – she plays turntable, handles vinyl records, and records soundscapes. She has performed in CA, the US and FR. Additionally, her works have been presented in UK, DEU, Palestine, PO, BE and DA. She does radio art pieces based on field recordings.
